Katherine McCready Doolan, sur...

Katherine McCready Doolan, surrounded by loved ones, peacefully left this world on April 19, 2021, to be with her Lord Jesus. The devoted wife of Daniel E. Doolan for 48 years, she married the love of her life and became the cherished mother of Jessica (Scott) Snook and precious Nana to Lily and Samuel Snook.

Born in Beaver Falls, PA on April 4, 1952, to the late Anna (Winogrocka) and the late Onal McCready, Katherine most recently lived with her husband in Chesapeake, VA and previously in Lilburn, GA. Throughout her life, Katherine shone as a bright example of dedication to the Lord, her family, friends, and patients. She was an avid and faithful student of the Bible, and loved to share her passion for it with others.

She loved being with her family, creatively collaborating on projects with her grandchildren, attending reunions and events, and enjoying the warmth of her extended kin. She was a beloved sister to Jon (Judy) McCready and Mary (Peter) Schulz, and her husband's siblings, Patrick (Margie) Doolan, Mary Lou (the late Robert) Alfather, the late Timothy Doolan and the late James "Jay" Doolan, Constance (Andrew) Guillen, Jennifer (the late Jeff) Bafile, Kathleen (the late Don) Morris, Wendy (Allen Kephart) Doolan, and Sean (Debra) Doolan.

Katherine was a doting aunt and great-aunt to John (Jeannine), Jordan, Riley, Sydney, and Bria McCready; David (Susan) and Kate McCready; Monica, Henry, and Mimi Kansas; Nathan (Grace Nze) Schulz; Katie, Aimee, Patrick and Isabelle, and the late Timothy Doolan; Katherine (Frank) and James Werner; Alex Guillen; Evan (Robert) Dunbar-Doolan and Piper Morris-Doolan; and Jacob Doolan. Katherine is also survived by many loving cousins and her dear Aunt Gerry Matsko. Katherine was a special and adventurous best friend to her lifelong pal, Kathleen Corcoran Job. She touched many lives and leaves friends across several states.

A 1970 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, she earned her Registered Nursing (RN) diploma from the former Rochester Hospital School of Nursing and later became an oncology-certified RN. She offered her patients a great reserve of empathy, expertise, and loving care.

Katherine will be remembered for her big heart, quiet demeanor, razor-sharp wit, and great sense of humor. She was an artist. She enjoyed "little animal shows." She loved the seashore and spending time in the mountains with Daniel. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 3, at Chapel Presbyterian Church, 625 Barclay Hill Road, Beaver, PA 15009. Gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m., with the memorial service starting at 10:30 a.m. Katherine's family would like to thank all those who supported her, Daniel, Jessica, and their loved ones throughout this journey. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Katherine may be made to The Doorways guest house, which provided housing for Katherine and Daniel during her treatment at VCU Medical Center (https://thedoorways.kindful.com/?campaign=1098115), or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html).

Vickie is the daughter of Robert W. Sitton and Sharron (Minglin) Sitton. She was born in Houston, TX on June 10, 1963. She is survived by her father, Robert W. Sitton and stepmother, Barbara N. Sitton of Forest, VA; brother, Jeffrey E. Sitton of Media, PA; brother, Andrew C. Sitton and sister-in-law, Erin W. Sitton of Lynchburg, VA; and by numerous cousins. Although afflicted with cerebral palsy from birth leaving her partially paralyzed and unable to speak, Vickie was an inspiration to all who knew her and particularly to her family. She spent numerous holidays with her family and attended virtually every wedding of her brothers and cousins. She was her stepmother's Maid of Honor at her wedding to her father. She visited her family in Florida, Virginia, Alabama, New Jersey Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She will be remembered for her courage in the face of adversity and her ability to enjoy life despite her physical limitations and often painful physical issues. She was confirmed in to the Episcopal Church, USA in 1981 and is now with Jesus Christ. Vickie resided with Mainstay Life Services for over 43 years. She celebrated 30 years of service with Life's Work of Western PA. Vickie had a larger than life personality and lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling to many different places with Exceptional Adventures and especially going to amusement parks. She enjoyed dances, bowling and functions organized by Mainstay Life Services, PACC and CCAC. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Vickie enjoyed cheering for the Steelers and Pirates. She would cheer loudly through her NovaChat device. She loved to wave her terrible towel when the Steelers scored. Her favorite player was Ben Roethlisberger. She had it on her NovaChat that she loved "Big Ben" and would say "Go Steelers"! Everyone that met Vickie fell in love with her, admired her for her outgoing personality, her perseverance and the caring person she was. She will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15220 on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 3 p.m. Vickie's remains will be placed alongside her first stepmother, Evelyn Cooper Sitton, in Cranbury, NJ in the family burial plot later this summer.
