CHENGERY

Bethel Park - Albert Edward Chengery, age 86, of Pittsburgh, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2026. Al is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Elizabeth (Libby) Chengery and daughters Anne (David) Paolicelli of South Fayette and Katie (Gregory) McGee of Mt. Lebanon. He will be remembered as a loving grandfather to Elizabeth and Teresa Paolicelli and Delaney, Mason, and Michael McGee. Al was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel Chengery and Barbara (Jehovic) Chengery, and is survived by his siblings, Gabriel (Cindy) Chengery of Thornton, Colorado, and Eleanor Chengery of Pittsburgh; in-laws, Chuck and the late Judy Kovatch, of Whitehall; nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh and Colorado; and godsons Nick Caruso and the late Michael Lako.

In addition to an unyielding love for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers, Al took great pride in being a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) official. He spent many afternoons on the field and court refereeing or umpiring high school baseball, basketball, soccer, and football games across Western Pennsylvania, and he also ran in Pittsburgh's Great Race for many years. A proud graduate of North Catholic High School and Duquesne University, Al worked as an accountant and loved following the markets.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Monday, April 20th from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the THOMAS P. KUNSAK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3552 California Avenue at Davis Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15212.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Christ Our Savior, St. Cyril of Alexandria Church. Interment to follow in Christ Our Redeemer, North Side Catholic Cemetery.
