Alexander Nicholas Perinis, 90, of Niantic, CT, died Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the home of his daughter in Berryville, VA.

Mr. Perinis was born May 26, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Nicholas Stanley Perinis and Mary Mastrogeorge Perinis.

He met his wife, Jeannette Ruth Kelsey, when they were in middle school, and they were married in 1958 in Pittsburgh, PA; Mrs. Perinis died on February 11, 2026.

Mr. Perinis graduated from the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) with both an undergraduate and master's degrees. While attending Pitt, he played minor league baseball for several minor league teams, including the Pittsburgh Pirates. During his career as an educator at Upper St. Clair High School in Upper St. Clair, PA, he taught physical education and coached several high school sports, primarily men's basketball and baseball and women's golf.

He had an avid interest in Civil War history, spending time reenacting with the 9th Pennsylvania Reserve Regiment.

Surviving are a daughter, Penelope H. Butler (Ken) of Berryville, VA; a son, Nicholas C. Perinis (JoAnn) of Niantic, CT; two grandchildren, Andrew N. Concilio (Yasmine) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Alexandra K. Zajac of Ranson, WV; three great-grandchildren, Camdyn, Inara, and Wynn; and a brother, George Perinis (Heather) of Pittsburgh, PA.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at BEINHAUER-DORMONT FUNERAL HOME, Pittsburgh, PA, where a Trisagion Service will be held Sunday at 7:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM, at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkeson Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228, with Father John and Father Michael officiating.
