ALEXANDER "SAWNEY" F.

Age 79, of Lakemont Farms, formerly of Carnegie and Greentree, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at home with his family by his side. He was born on September 18, 1945, to the late Alexander and Sara (Story) Dempster, Sr. in Carnegie, PA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Freda (Wheeler) Dempster; his daughter, Casey Dempster (Tom) Fitzpatrick; his son, Alexander F. (Cynthia DeLotto) Dempster III; his grandchildren, Jack, Gavin, Alexander, Quinn, Ella and Henry; and his siblings, Michael (Del) Dempster and Sally (Steve) Buchanan. Mr. Dempster was an American History Teacher at Chartiers Valley School District for over 35 years until his retirement, where he was also the Basketball coach for many years. He was particularly passionate about golf and enjoyed playing a game with close friends and family. Alex was also very loyal to his Pittsburgh roots and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan. Most of all, he was a very proud family man. His favorite title of all was "Pap." He will be dearly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 25, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at St. Catherine of Laboure Parish, St. Louise deMarillac Church, 320 McMurray Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Please meet at church. Interment to follow at Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville.
