ALEXANDRA "ZAN"

A firecracker dressed as a princess. Alexandra "Zan" Shorsher-Persichetti, 61, of Murrysville, raised in Irwin, died suddenly on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward George Shorsher and Nancy Elizabeth Schade-Shorsher; and a sister, Kristen Shorsher-Hanko. She is survived by her husband, Mark Remlinger; sons, Ted Remlinger and Will Remlinger; sisters, Melinda "Minnie" Zhukas (Kevin) and Lauren Smith (Ian); brother-in-law, David Hanko; and nephews, Spencer Zhukas (Laura), Nelson Zhukas, Luke Hanko (Jen), and Jake Hanko. Family meant the world to Zan. Zan was a graduate of Penn State University where she earned a bachelor's degree and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a master's degree. Zan was a stalwart at Kennametal for nearly 25 years, where she directed the company's environment, health, and safety programs. Zan enjoyed the responsibilities and travel opportunities presented throughout her career, as well as the chance to gain even more friends in Latrobe and across the globe. Zan adored animals and wildlife. She took a passionate interest in the deer that surrounded their rural home, naming the entire herd and befriending them enough to hand feed them apples in the evenings. When that resulted in a fawn being born in the yard the day before her birthday this year. Zan said it was her favorite birthday gift and made sure the fawn thrived in the sanctuary she created. Most importantly, Zan was always the brightest light in any room she entered. While she might not be the first to arrive at a party, she was always the last to leave! With friendships and cooking as two of Zan's passions, she loved to host and entertain in the home she and Mark built together. Zan was an excellent communicator and a good listener, and her sense of humor and storytelling ability is legendary. We will all miss the contagious laughter and endless hugs Zan provided. All these qualities made Zan a favorite among her family, friends, and colleagues. We love you and we miss you, Zan. Until we meet again. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin. In memory of Zan, donations can be made in Zan's name to Starlight Strays Sanctuary, Pittsburgh, at www.starlightstrays.com. For online condolences, please visit
