ALLYN REESE

Age 92, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories, enduring friendships, and a family who loved him deeply.

Born on September 19, 1933, Allyn was a hardworking man whose strong work ethic began at the young age of 13, plastering houses. Throughout his life, he built a career in seamless flooring and epoxy work, before later serving others through Occupational Vocational Rehabilitation. He believed in the value of honest work and took pride in every job he did.

Allyn had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found his greatest enjoyment hunting and fishing. He also loved square dancing and was happiest spending time with family and friends. Known for his wit and easygoing nature, he often joked that his favorite "black beer" was simply a good cup of black coffee.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Ann Wagner Vidt Rosenblatt; his cherished daughter, Betsy Ann Vidt; his parents, Henry Charles Vidt and Jennie Lindsay Moyes Vidt; and his siblings, Paul Vidt, Warren Vidt, William Vidt, Dorothy Bash, David "Butchie" Vidt and Alfred Vidt.

He leaves behind his loving children, Elaine Vidt'Elliott, Allyn "Chuck" Vidt (Karen) and Dean Vidt. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne (Ty) Schomaker; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Vidt.

Allyn was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Michael Vidt (Ashley), Sheena Vidt, Daniel Vidt, Robert Vidt'Elliott (Nicole), Brad Monroe, Jennie Smith (Brian), Emily Smiechowski (Steven), Alexis Doyle (John) and Katelyn Vidt.

He was blessed with great-grandchildren: Khloe, Reese, Kasidy, Liam, Kallie, Caden, Gage, Noah, Kodi, August, Kyla, Owen, Jacob, Theodore, Kane, Caroline, Kyro, Thomas, Kobe and Otis.

He is also survived by five step-grandchildren: Charles Ulrich, Timothy Rodgers (Marcy), Melissa Freker, Kailey Dunmire and Rachel Dunmire; and five step-great-grandchildren: Brett, Tyler, Dylan, Tori and Zoe; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Allyn also leaves behind his cherished granddogs and grandcat, Zipper "Zip," Ripley "Rip," Layla, Max, Aynsley, Bentley and Butters, who brought him much happiness.

He will be greatly missed by his dear friends, Bobby Laine, Pat Knepp and Frank Decleva; along with many other friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, humor, and steadfast friendship.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Monarch Hospice. Special thanks to Sommer, Marley, Abby, Ashley; nurses, Crystal, Loren and Lorraine; social worker, Melissa; and Clergy Josh, for the compassionate care they provided. The family also extends a sincere thank you to Leeann, for her kindness and for always checking in on Allyn.

Allyn's legacy is one of hard work, unwavering devotion to family, and a life lived with quiet strength, humor, and integrity. He taught those around him the value of perseverance, the joy of simple pleasures, and the importance of spending time with the people you love. His memory will live on in the stories shared around hunting camps, fishing holes, family gatherings, and every cup of black coffee enjoyed in his honor.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Allyn's life at NEELY FUNERAL HOME, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116, with visitation on Saturday, August 8, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and Sunday, August 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Interment services will be private.
