ALVIN E. KNOX Obituary

KNOX

ALVIN E.

Of Turtle Creek, age 71, died unexpectedly and suddenly at his camp in Mercer County on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

He was the beloved husband of Cathy (Kubicko) Knox for 47 years.

Al was the loving and cherished father of Cristi (Shawn) Ofchinick, Alvin S. (Dana) Knox and Michael (Shawna) Knox, all of North Huntingdon.

He was the treasured grandfather of Brittany (Teddy) Gibala, Devin Ofchinick, Bailey (Jordan) Jones, Gia Scala, Alayna Spadaro-Knox (Chris), Jordana Knox, Taylor Ofchinick, and Michael Knox.

Al was the proud great-grandfather of Blakely, Rylan and Logyn.

He was the brother of Keith (Susan) Knox, of White Oak, Bobby "Obby" (Jennifer) Knox of North Versailles, Jodie (Jeffrey) Young of New Castle, and Donna (George) Wankulitz of North Versailles.

Al is also survived by his mother-in-law, Kitty (Hearn) Kubicko, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved pet puppy, Harley Jane.

Alvin Knox, known affectionately to many as Al, lived a life marked by kindness, adventure, and a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the outdoors.

He was a 1974 graduate of East Allegheny High School and built a long and respected career as a steel worker with U.S. Steel at Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock, retiring with 42 years of service.

Al was a man who truly loved the outdoors and all of its adventures. He found joy in spending time in nature and embraced every opportunity to be outside, whether he was hunting, fishing, or camping with his family.

He was a member of the White Oak Rod and Gun Club, where he is remembered fondly for teaching archery and sharing his knowledge, and for being a gun collector enthusiast.

Al enjoyed deer hunting on his property at Conneaut Lake and loved to fish the streams and lakes of Western Pennsylvania.

Camping with family and friends was another of Al's great joys. He especially loved those times when he could ride his motorcycles and quads, boat, and spend long days surrounded by the people he cared about most. He also deeply appreciated his family vacations to Ocean City, MD.

All are welcome on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., TURTLE CREEK / MONROEVILLE CHAPEL, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m.
