ANNA "PENNY" "GRANNY"

Age 81, of Allison Park, passed away suddenly, on Monday, June 30, 2025. Daughter to the late Vince and Anna (Spahman) Palese; beloved wife and soulmate to George Smith for over 63 years. Devoted mother to George (Gail) and Russell (Gina) Smith; proud Granny of Tyler Smith (Mary-Anne), Paige Wilt (Parker), Evan Smith (Brielle) and Trevor Smith (Rachel). Loving great-granny of Stevie and Stella Smith. Sister to Lois Beilstein, Georgianne Fishinger (Bill), Julianne Palmiere, Vince Palese (Lee), Anita Spalick (Joe) and the late Shirley Brush and Pam Kay; and dedicated dog mom to Salty and Pepper. Also survived by many treasured nieces, nephews and friends.

Granny always treasured her time with her family, especially during Christmas when she decorated the whole house, cooked a big meal and spoiled everyone with gifts and silly Christmas stockings. She enjoyed weekly family Steeler game gatherings and picnics in the summer. She always made everyone laugh, loved telling old stories about her childhood trips to Mississippi and she cooked the best spaghetti in the world. She loved using her iPad to play casino games and watch videos of which she shared with the family as it related to them. And every time a new Stephen King book was published, Granny was sure to hint to the family that it would be the perfect gift. Granny taught us the importance of family and will forever live on in our hearts.

She was simply the best, better than all the rest.

Family and friends are warmly welcomed at the NEELY FUNERAL HOME, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, on Saturday, July 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A blessing will be held at 3:30 p.m.
