ARLENE FRANCES (ONDOVCHIK)

Arlene Frances (Ondovchik) Buchanan, 73, of Swissvale, PA, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 28, 2025, at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

She was born on August 22, 1951, in Braddock, PA, to Helen Agnes (Zajac) and Joseph William Ondovchik.

Arlene graduated from Scott High School in 1969, and spent 50 years as an Office Assistant at Duquesne University's Computing and Technology Services (CTS).

Arlene was known for her dedication to her work and her students.

She never shied away from a job to be done and made it a point to welcome all who passed through the doors of CTS.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Donald T. Buchanan; and her sister, Diane M. (Ondovchik) Kelly.

She is survived by her niece, April (Kelly) Balsomico; her stepson, Christopher Buchanan; and her step-grandson, Christopher Shay Buchanan.

Friends will be received at ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, PA 15148, on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 5 pm-8 pm.

A memorial service will be held at the Duquesne University Chapel, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10 am.

Entombment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane World for Animals.
