ARTHUR J.
Age 94 of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away on July 4, 2026, following a long battle with dementia, cared for by his beloved son, Larry Katz; daughter, Barrie Gayle Katz; niece, Susan Kinger; and sister-in-law, Loretta Lundy Kinger. He was the beloved husband of the late Rhea E. Katz, married for 57 years. Born in West Aliquippa, PA, on February 27, 1932, to the late Nathan and Minnie Katz. He is survived by son, Larry Katz; daughter, Aaron Katz; and daughter, Barrie Gayle Katz. He was a proud, loving grandfather of Ian Katz, Julia Eichberg, and Veronica Eichberg. Brother of the late Manuel Katz, Louis Katz, Ruth Erlich, and Eleanor Cook. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Cook as a captain's clerk. Following his military service, Art was a dedicated member of Beth El Synagogue, of which he was a founding member. Art, a proud graduate of Penn State University, cofounded K & K Gourmet Meats, which was incorporated in 1964. Art was an entrepreneur as well as an innovator. Art and his late brother, Louis Katz, were the creators of the original "Butter Steak." Art, a beloved friend of the community, will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., PA 15220 (412-563-2800), on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 1 PM. Visitation one hour prior to service. (12:00 to 1:00 PM). Interment will follow at 2 PM in Shaare Torah Cemetery, 861 Stewart Avenue, Whitehall, PA 15227. Friends and family will be received at the home of Stephen Lebovitz.
