BARBARA ANN (REED)

Barbara Ann (Reed) Krause, aged 87, passed away on March 28, 2026. A dedicated educator, community leader, and lifelong athlete, she leaves behind a legacy of mentorship and service.

Born in Cressona, Pennsylvania, to the late Sherman and Mary (Bittle) Reed, Barbara was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, where she excelled in basketball and softball. She earned her degree from Heidelberg College, beginning a distinguished teaching career that spanned from Lima, Ohio, to Plum Borough, Pennsylvania.

Beyond the classroom, Barbara was a tireless advocate for student growth, notably supporting the Mustang Marching Band, AFS, and student educational travel. Following her retirement, she continued her service to the community by serving two terms on the Plum Borough School Board (1997-2005).

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Arthur K. Krause; her children, Kathi (Krause) Berman and Kurt Krause; her beloved grandchildren, Kyle Berman, Maria Berman, and Logan Krause; and two great grandchildren, Andrew Jackson IV and Jordan Krause. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Kay, Daniel, and Mary.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Longwood at Oakmont Ballroom, 500 Coxcomb Hill Rd., Verona, PA 15147.
