BARBARA WALTON

On Wednesday April 30, 2025, Barbara Walton Lanke-Unrath, of Ross Township, passed away at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late William F. Unrath; daughter of the late Raymond and Thelma Walton; survived by dear children, Bruce D. Lanke (Julie Young), Carl J. Lanke, Judith A. Lanke, Karen J. Lanke, Becky U. Mullinary (Gary), William D. Unrath (Jane McGowan) and Daniel E. Unrath (Dina); preceded in death by dear daughter, Sharyl U. Giel (Jim); also survived by dear grandchildren, Aric Unrath (Leslie), James A. Giel III (Ashley), Jennifer L. Weider (Cory), Patrick Mullinary (Raksha), Maggie G. Bovaird (Andy), Jessica L. Henny (Kyle), Cara M. Morton (Rob), Danielle Y. Kazalas (John), Kyle J. Lanke (Joelle), Julia L. Hores (Harry), Brenna U. Moreland (Scott), Cameron D. Unrath (Rachel), Caitlyn J. Lanke, and Dylan J. Lanke; dear great-grandchildren, Ali Unrath, Sophia, Kuyper and Owen Moreland, Bryce and Declan Bovaird, Roman and Silas Henny, Sadie, Ellie and Hailey Giel, Pearce and Maeve Weider, Micah and Levi Unrath, Olive and Lily Lanke, Maya and Mila Mullinary, Amelia Hores, Cameron and Sophie Kazalas. Barbara received her BS and MEd; she taught at Pittsburgh Public School District, RAF Station Sculthorpe (UK), and North Hills School District; was a Supervisor of Student Teachers at Point Park College and the University of Pittsburgh; Part-time Instructor at CCAC North; Co-Author of Heartwood Ethics Curriculum; Co-Founder of Heartwood Institute; a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perrysville, 920 Perry Highway from 1961, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Trainer for ELCA, Search Weekly Bible Study and Bethel Bible Study, member of numerous committees and the choir, was a volunteer with McKnight Meals-on-Wheels. Family and friends received Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 p.m., at the LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 460 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perrysville. (Everyone will meet at the church).
