BAYLES KENNEDY "KEN"

Age 85, passed away peacefully, on June 14, 2026, in Mercer, Pennsylvania. Born on August 9, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri, leading to a distinguished career spanning nearly six decades as a mechanical and nuclear engineer, working for Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory near West Mifflin, PA.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Coreen and her husband, Richard Williams of Mercer, PA and Krista and her husband, Daniel Johnson of Fresno, CA; his grandson, David Pointer, his wife, Alicia and their children, Clark, Reese and Joy of Clovis, CA. He is also survived by his sisters, Virginia Anne Reinholdt of St. Louis, MO and Carol (Scott Starbuck) of Destin, FL; and his brothers, Dick (Barbara) of Tellico Village, TN and Bill (Sharon) of Elkview, WV.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, BK Flanery II and Virginia Forest Flanery (Wright). He was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Megan Virginia Carlock.

His family remembers him as a man of kindness and humor, who had a caring heart and an active spirit. Ken's genuine interest in others made him a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew him. Ken is lovingly remembered by his family with his active lifestyle, enjoying water and snow skiing, bicycling, and hiking. He lived a life marked by curiosity and intelligence.

He was married twice; his first wife, Karen Ann Gaymon-Flanery, mother to his two daughters; and later, Genevieve Skarja-Flanery. He was a kind and good husband, and sadly he lost both wives before his passing.
