BERNARD F. "BERNIE"

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at age 89, beloved husband of Susan DePasquale Hlister; father of Anthony J. Hlister, Rita Pompeo (Marco), Susan Parente (Martin), and the late Teresa Adams (Mike); proud Pap Pap of Christina Pompeo Hromulak (Al), Marc Pompeo, Michael Pompeo, Giuseppe Parente (Sarah), Martino Parente, Natalie Krute (Ryan), Ashley Adams, and John Adams; brother of the late Anthony Hlister and Eugene Hlister. Bernie was a proud U.S. Marine veteran who was a restaurateur and former manager of the Cork and Bottle restaurant in Downtown Pittsburgh. He enjoyed cooking for his family and was famous for his Christmas Eve Seven Fishes menu that always included lobster tail. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (freyvogelfuneralhome.com), on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 3-7 PM. Funeral Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Cathedral, at 10:00 AM.
