BETTY J.

Age 86, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Chester Hill, died May 4, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospice Wexford House, Wexford, PA.

Betty was born on January 26, 1939, in Madera, a daughter of the late John and Jane (Lamb) McMullen.

Betty graduated from Morris Township High School in Morrisdale, PA, in 1956. She went on to attend the Williamsport School of Commerce in Williamsport, PA, earning a diploma in Secretarial Studies in 1957. She spent over 30 years working as a Department Manager in the Admissions Department and Switchboard at Philipsburg State General Hospital, remaining there until the hospital was closed by the state in 1991. After a community group reopened the facility as Philipsburg Area Hospital (PAH), Betty returned to work there as a secretary for several more years before retiring a second time.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, pets and traveling.

Betty was married on September 11, 1965, in Philipsburg, PA, to Carl J. Martin who preceded her in death on October 14, 2024.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Metzger and husband Jacob "Jake" Metzger, of Pittsburgh, PA and one brother John "Jack" McMullen and wife Beverly of Morrisdale, PA.

A graveside memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Philipsburg Cemetery. The funeral procession will gather at DAHLGREN-SPEWOCK FUNERAL HOME, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, PA at 11:00 AM before proceeding to the cemetery.
