CAROL D. HOOD

Carol Dawn Hood Wagner, 84, of Butler, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Born April 27, 1941, in New Brighton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul M. Hood and Esther Maratta Hood.

A 1959 graduate of Moon Township High School, she graduated from Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1962.

She was a dedicated rehabilitation nurse at the Butler VA Medical Center for 35 years, and she was a staff nurse at Concordia at the Orchard for 10 years afterwards.

Carol's greatest love was her family, and she cherished her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother. The loving wife of Gilbert Wagner since August 31, 1963, they went everywhere together like two peas in a pod. She and Gil often traveled to visit many good friends.

Carol was an avid sports fan. She loved to play cards and games with her kids, grandkids and friends. She had a green thumb, she was artistic, and she was an animal lover, particularly of dogs. She was selfless, kind, and generous, and she would do anything for anyone.

Carol is survived by her doting and devoted husband, Gil; her children, Andrea Wagner, of Granville, Ohio, Kristin Potter and her husband, Robert, of Butler, Michael Wagner and his wife, Tina, of Erie, PA; and six grandchildren: Julia (Drake), Danielle (Hsuan), Jacob (Taylor), Tara, Bebe, and Heather (Layne).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David E. Wagner, and her brother, Bruce Hood.

A family and friends gathering will be held in the MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 12 noon - 3 p.m.

Services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Matthew Perkins officiating.
