CAROLINE GRACE O'LEARY

Age 90, passed from this life, at Concordia Rebecca Residence, January 11, 2025. She was born December 5, 1934 in Pittsburgh PA, the daughter of Frederick M. and Grace (Barr) O'Leary. Carol received a BA from La Roche College in 1975 and in 2013 was honored as a distinguished member of the college alumni. On January 10, 1958, Carol married Clyde Marsiglio, who passed away in 1978. Carol was Director of Social Services at Passavant Hospital and retired in 1990. While at Passavant, she initiated and managed the first cancer support group in collaboration with the Cancer Caring Center. After retiring from Passavant Hospital, she was an Adjunct Professor at LaRoche College. Her previous employment included being the first Director, North Suburban Adult Services in Bellevue. Carol loved her work as a social worker and her skills never faded, as she was genuinely concerned with the safety and well-being of others. Carol loved flowers and in her younger years, had a large perennial flower garden. She also worked in a few flower shops. She always had a single flower or bouquet in her home. Carol is survived by her brother, Joseph and wife, Marian of State College, PA; two sisters, Patricia Beyerl and husband, Bernard of Gibsonia, PA and Gertrude Tinter and husband, Bernard of Saratoga Springs, NY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four brothers: Frederick, Francis St. Clair, Richard and Timothy; and four sisters: Dorthea Murto, Betty Millward, Jean Shearer and Eleanor Yingling. Carol's request was for no public viewing, but a Remembrance Service to be held at the convenience of the family. A service will be held at a later date.
