CHARLES "SKIP" GEORGE

Charles "Skip" George Wilker, Sr., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 12, 2026.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 8, 1943, Skip was the son of the late Charles J. Wilker and Mildred R. Wilker (Richardson). Throughout his life, he exemplified honor, humility, and steadfast commitment to serving both his family and his community.

Skip proudly served his country for six years as a Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard. Following his military service, he graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1968 and began a distinguished 18-year career as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, dedicating himself to protecting the citizens of the Commonwealth. He later joined Erie Insurance, where he worked for more than 30 years before retiring.

Service to others was the cornerstone of Skip's life. For more than six decades, he was a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company, answering the call whenever his community needed him. His unwavering commitment, leadership, and selfless dedication left a lasting impact on fellow firefighters and generations of Franklin Park residents.

More than any title he held, Skip treasured his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Holly Kay Wilker (Schroth); his children, Charles G. Wilker (Kathryn), Becky Heagerty (Ron), and Paula Herrington (Eric); his grandchildren, Jessica Manns (Joshua), Christin Wintermantel (Brooke), Ashley Wingert (Jonathan), Erica Dengler (Jarin), Elizabeth Wilker, Mackenzie Heagerty, Amelia Wilker, and Kylee Heagerty; and his two cherished great-grandchildren, Hallie and Liam.

Skip will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication, generous spirit, and deep love for his family. His legacy of service, kindness, and integrity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company, 2360 Rochester Road, Sewickley, PA 15143, in honor of Skip's lifelong commitment to serving his community.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
