CHARLES WILLIAM "CHUCK"

Charles William "Chuck" Kenrick, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on June 18, 2026, two days after his 80th birthday, surrounded by family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 16, 1946. He moved to southwestern Pennsylvania at the age of 2 and became a "Pittsburgher" for life. Chuck was a gentleman in every sense of the word.

Chuck was an intellectual who valued education to increase opportunity and enrichment of one's own life. He took pride as a lifelong supporter of his beloved alma mater, Kenyon College, and law school, Duquesne University. He had a great sense of humor, highlighted by his "jagging quips" to his friends, especially those he respected most. Chuck was an attorney who personified professionalism and excellence in a lengthy legal career. He served as President of the Allegheny County Bar Association and rose to managing partner of the law firm that first hired him out of law school. During his years of practice, he was recognized as a top civil trial lawyer.

In short, Chuck was highly respected in the legal profession.

He enjoyed viewing sports and supporting Pittsburgh's professional and collegiate teams. He also had a passion for swimming, playing tennis, and most of all, golf. He passed his love for sports and appreciation for golf onto his five children. Chuck was also an avid reader, often devouring multiple newspapers a day, in addition to the constant engagement with the staple of books and magazines that filled his office and home. One of the great joys of his life was taking his family on wonderful vacations all over the United States and Canada. From countless national parks to the open road of the country from coast to coast, he knew that the gift of exposing his family to the wider world would resonate with them forever. He loved to document these vacations on his treasured camcorder, providing endless running commentary, sometimes scripted, of his family's adventures and misadventures through countless hours of video footage.

He will be remembered as a leader, someone who aimed high and worked hard, was a giver not a taker, played fair, and was kind and humble about the man he was and what he achieved along the way. Chuck faced many challenges in his life and never complained about them but rather faced them with quiet courage and resilience.

Most importantly, Chuck was a faithful husband and father. He loved his family without condition. His greatest achievement was marrying Patricia, his wife of 56 1⁄2 years, and raising their five children together. He was also a gentle Grandad to his six grandchildren. His legacy will live on through them. He is survived by his wife Patty, his children, Hugh (Jocel) Kenrick of Phoenix, Arizona, Alex (Rebecca) Kenrick of Long Island, New York, Graham (fiancé Katelyn Halley) of Houston, Texas, Charlotte (Eric) Starkowicz of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Blair (Jamie) Kenrick of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his grandchildren, Caroline, Libby, and Kate Kenrick, Gunnar Starkowicz, and Nolan and Caden Kenrick, and brother John Kenrick of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
