Cheryl Lynn Nowacki, after a year-long battle with dementia and cancer, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2025, of Brentwood. Born January 1, 1947, to Larue and Cecil Nelson in New Kensington, PA. Beloved wife of Gary Nowacki; mother of Jennifer (Steve) Vasic; grandmother of Sophia Vasic; sister of Ronald (Joanne) Nelson and Kevin (Patricia) Nelson; aunt of Michael and Tyler Nelson. Cheryl graduated from Valley High School and received her Bachelor of Education degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught in Connecticut for a few years and then returned to Pittsburgh and taught in the Brentwood School District. She later became head of the CLASP after school program. Cheryl was an avid reader and supporter of the library. She enjoyed quiet time, a good book and a glass of wine. Cheryl will be remembered as a good woman and a wonderful wife who never took more than she gave. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Arrangements were handled privately through the JOHN F.
