SOSSO
DANIEL RAYMOND
Daniel Raymond Sosso was called to eternal life on April 27, 2025, at 1:23 AM, his 78th birthday, surrounded by his loving family, enveloped by their care and devotion. He transitioned peacefully, comforted by the Lord, to his heavenly home.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, dedication, and cherished memories. Born as the second son to the late Thomas D. Sosso, Sr. and Helen R. Sosso, Dan grew up as one of eight siblings in a close-knit family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Thomas D. Sosso, Jr. (affectionately known as Big Daddy), James J. Sosso, and Mary Louise Sosso, as well as his grandparents and many other beloved relatives and friends.
Dan shared an extraordinary bond with his identical twin brother, Robert W. Sosso (Sergei), and is also survived by his siblings Denise M. Figlio, Celeste M. Iaderosa (Adolph), and Michael P. Sosso (Anna).
A family man at his core, Dan was blessed with three sons, Mark A. Sosso (Cara), Scott G. Sosso (Kristy), and Nicolas D. Sosso, who were his pride and joy. His love extended to his six grandchildren - Gage, Bella, Sophia, Anthony, Luca, and Jake - as well as his great-granddaughter, Aria, who brought boundless joy to his later years. Together, they were the heart of his world, and his devotion to them was limitless. As a devoted uncle, he was a steady presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews, offering guidance, laughter, and unwavering support.
Dan shared a lasting bond of friendship with his former wife, Helen V. Sosso. Though life took them down separate paths, their care for one another and family remained steadfast. They continued to share meals, laughter, and support, a testament to the enduring respect and affection they held for each other.
A master craftsman, Dan was a renowned custom home builder whose work left a lasting impression on the Pittsburgh community. His attention to detail and dedication to his craft earned him a reputation for excellence, which he maintained until his well-deserved retirement a few years ago. He served as President of the Builders Association, received numerous awards for his work, including the Parade of Homes awards, and the most prestigious Builder of the Year award.
Dan was also deeply committed to giving back to his community, dedicating a significant amount of time and resources to charitable causes. One of his most meaningful affiliations was with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he played an active role in bringing joy and hope to children facing critical illnesses. His charitable efforts reflected his boundless generosity and desire to make a positive impact, further solidifying his legacy as a man of compassion and kindness.
Above all, Dan will be remembered for his deep faith and commitment to walking with the Lord. In his later years, he dedicated his heart and time to pursuing a closer relationship with Jesus, actively participating in his church community, men's groups, and Bible studies. His greatest desire was to share the message of salvation with everyone he encountered. Dan deeply valued the fellowship he found at Orchard Hill Church, which became an important part of his faith testimony.
Alongside his faith, Dan's devotion to his family was unwavering. Whether as a father, grandfather, brother, or uncle, he enriched the lives of those around him with his kindness, wisdom, and unshakable love. His family was the heart of his world, and his legacy will live on in the lives he touched - a reminder of a life lived with purpose, love, and enduring faith.
Rest in heavenly peace, Daniel Raymond Sosso. You will be missed, but your memory and heart will continue to guide and inspire us all.
