Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 67.

Born on May 17, 1959, in Pittsburgh, David "Dave" Cornelius lived a life centered on love, laughter, family, and service to others. He was known for his warm personality, quick wit, and remarkable ability to make others smile with a joke or story. His sense of humor brought comfort and joy to everyone around him and will be remembered as one of his greatest gifts.

Above all, Dave was deeply devoted to his family. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife, Johnna, with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with love, partnership, and adventure. Together, they enjoyed traveling, creating treasured memories wherever they went, and embracing every opportunity to experience life side by side.

Dave was also a proud and active member of the Monroeville community. He worked for the Monroeville Parks Department for many years before happily retiring, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and service.

One of Dave's greatest joys was being a grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren: attending their activities, cheering them on, making them laugh, and simply being present in their lives. His love and unwavering support meant the world to them, and the memories they shared will remain in their hearts forever.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Cornelius; his beloved wife, Johnna Cornelius; his brother, William Cornelius; his in-laws, John and Betsy Baker; and his sister-in-law, Deborah Baker.

He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Cornelius and Michael Cornelius; his daughters-in-law, Rachel Cornelius and Kristina Florchak Cornelius; and his cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard (Joan), Beth (Joe), John (Elaine), Peggy (Martin), Carolyn, and Vicky; his sisters-in-law, Jodie and Sue (Frank); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dave's kindness, humor, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a service to follow at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike 412-372-2100.
