Age 78, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 15, 1947, Dave was a second-generation immigrant who carried a deep love for America and proudly served his country. His experiences instilled in him a lifelong commitment to promoting peace, a vow he honored throughout the rest of his days.
Following his military service, Dave dedicated himself to a career in healthcare administration. He worked tirelessly to safeguard healthcare access for the most vulnerable members of the community. He later transitioned to public service, working for the City of Pittsburgh for many years until his retirement in 2014. It was then he embraced his favorite and final role: a full-time grandpa.
Dave lived as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia (Gulla) and James A. Henderson; and many other relatives. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Linda Henderson; his children, Michelle Henderson and Angela (Bruce) Jacobs; his cherished grandchildren, Levi, Isaac, Gabriel, Grace and Isabella; and many loving family and friends.
Friends will be received on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 4-8 P.M., at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, (freyvogelfuneralhome.com). An Interment Service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the support and condolences received during this time.
