DEBORAH "DEBBIE" CHARITY
Deborah "Debbie" Charity Pipkin was born on September 8, 1957, to Pearl Gertrude Johnson Honaker and Albert Watts Honaker. She departed this life on April 22, 2026, with her husband at her side. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and spent the majority of her life as a resident in the city's Manchester neighborhood. She graduated from Allegheny High School in 1975.
Debbie dedicated over 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service, where she received several awards in recognition of her work. It was there that she met her husband, James A. Pipkin, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. Debbie was also a long-time member of the Buena Vista United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and volunteer leader for the youth ministry.
Debbie was an avid fan of all sports, but she was especially fond of the teams who sport the black and gold. From baseball to football to hockey, she had a remarkable memory for statistics and found great joy in following her local teams. In her younger years she was a talented athlete, playing both volleyball and softball during high school. She was small in stature, but full of fire with a competitive spirit that was always ready to win.
Debbie loved music and would sing her heart out, no matter the key, with a special love for Michael Jackson.
Above all, Debbie loved her family and the Lord. She grew up surrounded by a large and close-knit family of siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews, relationships she cherished throughout her life. Debbie was a proud wife and mother, teaching her daughters what it meant to exemplify honor and service. Debbie was a constant presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, pouring into them with care and dedication. Her home and her heart were open to those she loved.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Eleanor Beasley and Helen Millender; and her brothers, Albert Honaker Jr., Rudolph Johnson, Ronald Johnson, and Gary Honaker.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, James Pipkin; her children, Shulawn Menifield (Coby), Danitra Mason (Roderick), Kevin Pipkin, and Kenya Jones; her grandchildren, Jalen Jones, Jarique Jones, Pierce Honaker, Bryce Honaker, Kevin Pipkin Jr., Kiara Pipkin, Coby Menifield Jr., Jaden Jones, Alana Mason, and Elijah Mason; her great-grandchild, Kha'lani Honaker; her aunt, Rose Dykes (Stanley); her siblings, Christine Quaye, Mary "Ann" Buford (Howard), Elvira Prentice (Marshall), Ernest Honaker (Mary), Myron Honaker, Karen Mills (Alphonso), and Keith Honaker; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Honaker, Minnie Mae Miller, Margaret Ruth Pipkin, and Minnie Pipkin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Debbie's love for her family was the center of her life, and her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Services were held May 1, 2026, arrangements by ODELL ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME.
