DR. JAMES F.

Age 78, of Moon Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Beloved husband of 22 years to Darlene (Falgiani) Cataldi. Loving father of Rebecca Cataldi and Robert (Shannon) Cataldi; cherished grandfather of David Michael and Joseph James Cataldi; brother of Libby Cataldi and Theodore "Ted" (Susan) Cataldi, Jr.; also survived by numerous dear nieces and nephews. Dear friend and partner in business, Dr. Anthony Cario, Betty Macek, Bob Castellano, Ray Hartung, John Drumm, Rick Vaccarelli; and numerous other friends.

James had a well-rounded education, starting with the Sisters at St. Mary's School in McKees Rocks and continuing with high school at Canevin High School, graduating in 1966. He did his undergraduate at Catholic University of America, graduating in 1970, and received his DMD from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1974. He immediately opened his dental practice, Cataldi & Cario Dentistry, with his partner Dr. Anthony Cario and office manager Betty Macek in Kennedy Township. He loved helping his patients not only with their dental issues but also with personal life experiences.

In his own words:

"Well, I guess I'm dead. At least that's what they tell me. Makes sense; we all die sometime, and I haven't been feeling all that well lately. I've had a good life. Not a great life, not with a divorce years ago in my rear-view mirror. And not with the several heartaches I've had ... some I've suffered, and some I've caused. But it's been a good life. I got to treat some of the nicest people I've ever met. I've had generous parents, fine siblings, and platinum friends. I am honored with a loving daughter-in-law and two grandsons ... beautiful little David and Joey. I have the best wife that there is and the finest children God ever created. And they are all woven into the tapestry of a gift beyond all telling, my Catholic faith. I have been blessed far more than I have deserved. See you all down the road."

Relatives and friends received Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 2 PM-8 PM, at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township), PA 15108. Funeral prayer is Friday at 10:15 AM, at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Archangel Gabriel Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 5718 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks (Robinson Township), PA 15136. Entombment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
