DR. ROBERT

Dr. Robert Hartsock, age 95, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026.

Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Robert was the youngest of five children born to the late Thomas and Margaret Hartsock. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Thomas, who perished during World War II, and his sisters, Alice (Rudolph) and Mary Margaret (Brown). Growing up in Altoona, he fell in love with baseball at an early age—a passion for sports that stayed with him throughout his life as a devoted fan of Notre Dame football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Pirates.

Robert pursued higher education at Saint Vincent College before earning his medical degree from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine. His dedication to medicine led to a distinguished career spanning over three decades at Allegheny General Hospital, where he served as the Director of Laboratory Medicine. A highly respected hematopathologist, Dr. Hartsock made significant contributions to the field and was internationally recognized for his expertise in Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Outside of his work, Robert enjoyed building intricate balsa wood airplanes and travelling. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his kind personality, lifelong interest in learning and deep love for his friends and family.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his three sons, Thomas, Robert, and Randolph; his daughters-in-law, Cara and Carrie; and his cherished grandchildren, John (Amanda), Lily, and Taylor.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM at WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall, PA 15215. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10 AM at Christ the King Parish, St. Joseph Church, 342 Dorseyville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
