EDITH BALENTINE Obituary

BALENTINE

EDITH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 94-year-old, Edith "Ginger" Balentine. She died peacefully at home, on April 15, 2026. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Joy (Paul Martino) Balentine, Marta (Michael) Metzger; and her brother, James Hoey. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, David Balentine; and brother, Arthur "Tommy" Hoey. She grew up in the Highland Park neighborhood of Pittsburgh and graduated from Peabody High School. Edith spent most of her adult life in the Bloomfield section of Pittsburgh, where she was a devoted mother and wife. And she made it a point to bring her daughters on weekly downtown adventures. She was well known for her charm and sense of humor. And was a master of April Fools' day pranks. At Christmas time, she threw a fun and popular tree trimming party! Edith will be greatly missed by the squirrels and birds in the neighborhood. She always left them an ample supply of bread crumbs and crackers on her front porch.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make contributions to the Humane Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh.

A private burial is planned at the Allegheny Cemetery.
