EDWARD J. DOHENY Obituary
DOHENY
EDWARD J.
On Monday, March 2, 2026, Edward J. Doheny, age 70, of Forest Hills, formerly of Point Breeze, passed away with his wife and family by his side.
Born on May 28, 1955, Ed was the beloved son of Edward and Lorraine (Skowerski) Doheny and the proud first chapter in his parents' great love story. He was soon joined by six sisters, forming the close-knit family that remained the foundation of his life.
In his early twenties, Ed was mentored by his Uncle John Doheny in the home improvement trade. Together they built a respected business, Allstate Builders and Remodeling, where they worked together for more than 30 years. Ed took pride in the relationships he built with clients, employees and sub-contractors, who often became lifelong friends.
Ed met his wife and true love, Toni, later in life, and they've had 16 wonderful years together. They spent a lot of time at the family cottage at Deep Creek Lake, where they fished as often as they could. Ed often said he didn't catch the most fish, but he always caught the biggest fish. His wife, Toni, was the best catch of his life! Ed enjoyed trips to the beach, dancing with his wife at their local clubs, poker games with family, reading the paper daily, and reading about history. He enjoyed a lot of life's simple pleasures, but most of all, Ed loved talking to people - family, friends, clients, and anyone willing to engage him in a conversation.
He is survived by his wife, Toni (Bakin) Doheny; sisters Kate (Buddy) Masterson, Lynn (Ray) Dougherty, Michelle (Terry) Hartman, Mary Beth "Bea" Doheny (Tom Semich), Colleen Doheny, and Eileen Doheny (Lee Bitterman); step daughters Kim (John) Toney, Amy (Jamaal) Loman, Nina (Greg) Plumb, and Chasity (Jeff) Bache; Uncle, Aunts, and numerous cousins.
His eight grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews, were blessed with countless memories of boating and fishing with him at Deep Creek Lake - and of receiving his famously unfunded million-dollar checks upon high school graduation.
Ed's warmth, humor, and gift for exaggerated storytelling will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, from 2-8 p.m., at WOLFE MEMORIAL, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3600 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh, PA 15221 followed with final respects and Blessing Service in the funeral home chapel, Friday morning, March 6, at 10:30 a.m.
