EDWARD P.

Age 74 of Plum Boro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Born July 7, 1951, in Milwaukee, WI, he was the loving son of Ervin and Naomi (Norwood) Schindhelm. Beloved husband of Darlene (Grousis) Schindhelm. Loving father of David (Lisa) Schindhelm, and step-father of RJ (Lisa) Jones. Proud grandfather to Zachary Provident and Charli Jones. Also survived by his brother, Michael (Eva) Schindhelm; sisters, Jan (Jim Blumreiter) Schindhelm and Donna (Tom) Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward Schindhelm lived a thoughtful, faith-filled, and selfless life marked by devotion to his family, his work, and his church. He was a man of quiet strength, steady character, and deep compassion, and those who knew him will remember the kindness he extended so freely to others throughout his life.

Edward earned his undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana and later received his master's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Following college, he began his career as an engineer in 1973 at Westinghouse, where he served with dedication and distinction for 45 years before retiring. His long career reflected not only his intelligence and discipline, but also his commitment to doing his work with care and integrity.

Faith was central to Edward's life. He was a longtime member and trustee of the Presbyterian Church of Pitcairn, and he loved his Lord deeply. His faith was very important to him and guided the way he lived each day. He was known for his humility, his gentle spirit, and his willingness to put others before himself. Even at the end of his life, he remained focused on the needs and well-being of those around him.

Edward also found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. He enjoyed dancing, and it was on the ballroom floor that he met his wife, Darlene, a memory that surely remained special throughout their years together. He loved nature and being outdoors, where he found peace in the tranquility of the world around him. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family and loved ones in Wisconsin, cherishing the time spent together and the bonds that kept them close.

An avid reader, Edward was a wealth of knowledge and appreciated learning throughout his life. He also enjoyed getting together with his fellow Westinghouse retirees, where friendships and shared memories continued long after his years of service. Whether in conversation, in fellowship, or in quiet reflection, Edward carried himself with grace and sincerity.

Above all, Edward loved his family and treasured spending time with them. His life was a testament to care, compassion, and devotion, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. He will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude for the example he set and the goodness he shared so generously.

Family and friends will be received Monday, June 1, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL), 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Pitcairn, 312 Highland Avenue, Pitcairn, PA 15140. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Burial will be private at Plum Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Pitcairn, 312 Highland Avenue, Pitcairn, PA 15140.
