Edward W. Wachowski

October 16, 1942-February 28, 2025

Ed passed away on Friday, February 28th, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born and raised in Pittsburgh to John A. and Rita Wachowski; beloved husband of 57 years to Irene Wachowski; loving father to John E. (Kim) Wachowski; proud Pap to Alena and Evan Wachowski; brother to Rose (the late Ed) Fitzgerald; uncle to Donna (Joe) Filipiak.

After graduating from North Catholic High School, Ed served 4 years with the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Alaska. He then returned to Pittsburgh, where he spent the majority of his career working in the furniture business. He worked at Value City Furniture for over 30 years and continued to work there until his 80th birthday. Ed loved music and played bass guitar for some of the area's top bands in the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. He passed this love of music on to his son and grandchildren. Ed could often be seen in the stands on Friday nights during football season, watching his son play in the band. In more recent years, he enjoyed watching both his granddaughter and grandson learn to play the guitar.

Ed and Irene shared a love of animals, and through their 57 years together, they rescued and loved many cats and dogs. There are countless memories of time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.

All who knew him can say that Ed was a kind, generous man who was easy to talk to and loved by everyone in his life. He will be remembered as loving, easygoing, loyal, and hardworking.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 6th, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy, 15229. Funeral service Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, 806 Perry Highway.
