ELAINE HARRIET (FLAHERTY)

Elaine H. (Flaherty) Abernathey of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, age 94. Beloved wife of late Samuel L. Abernathey; cherished mother of late Cheryl Brandy (Armand), Colleen Fawley (Michael) and Cory Little (Brett). Elaine was daughter of late Anna and James Flaherty; loving sister to late Jamette Miller (late Ken), the late Anna "Betsy" Flaherty, Carole Davey (late Joe), the late James Flaherty (late Aldine) and late Sondra Flaherty.

Elaine was a precious grandmother to Chelsea Derco (Josh), Alyson Ryan (Eric), Reed Fawley (Hope), Andrew, Christian and Chloe Little. Blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Bella, Aiden, Everett, Della, Callen, Theo and Pierce Elaine (her name neighbor). To her many nieces and nephews she was gentle Aunt Elaine. She devoted her life to family, putting the needs of others ahead of her own without losing her sense of self. Patient beyond measure, she was an example of quiet strength, sharp intellect and good humor. For her family, home was wherever Gramma was. She will forever be cherished. Consistent with her private nature, no formal services will be held.
