ELEANORE (URAM)
With immense sadness, the Murdoch Family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Eleanore "El" Louise Murdoch, age 84, of Whitehall Borough, on March 11, 2026. She was born on June 25, 1941, in the South Side of Pittsburgh, to Helen and John Uram. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Rosemarie Uram. El died peacefully with her son, Robert "R.J." John Murdoch, by her bedside.
El is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, Jenafer Murdoch; brother-in-law, Alan Murdoch; sister-in-law, Corinne Murdoch; step-grandchildren, Austin and Katelyn Lewis, and numerous extended family. El was also survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert "Bob" Whitten Murdoch, who sadly passed away on June 6, 2026.
Following her high school graduation from St. Casimir, El earned a business degree from Duff's Iron City Business Institute. During her professional career, which included a temporary relocation to Washington, D.C., she met her future husband, Bob, and upon marriage, devoted the remainder of her life to raising her family.
El would do anything for her family for which they will be eternally grateful. She was the ultimate caretaker, going on to support and care for her sister when she was battling a terminal illness, and became the fulltime caretaker for her mother when she also developed terminal health issues. Sacrificing her own health and well-being to take care of the people she loved, she was truly selfless. She was always ready and willing to provide help, guidance and advice to family. She was also utterly devoted to her son. She went out of her way during his childhood to provide him with love, time and attention. Even in adulthood, her primary focus was on his wellbeing.
El also possessed a strength that she never realized that she had. She was confined to a wheelchair and hospital bed for the final 20+ years of her life, oftentimes being in significant pain. Her pain and confinement would have broken most people, but she never let her own deteriorating health hold her back from being upbeat and positive, or preventing her from being there for the ones that she loved.
She was the kindest, most loving and compassionate person, and will be forever missed and loved by her family to which she was utterly devoted. Above all, she was the greatest and most exceptional mother.
Services were private. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Park. Arrangements handled by JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 412-655-4501, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. If desired, family suggests contributions to The Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation, 251 18th Street S, Suite 630, Arlington, VA 22202.
