ELINOR GUNDLACH

Elinor Gundlach Schuessler, 93, of McMurray, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Ridgecrest Senior Living Community.

Elinor graduated from Peabody High School in 1949, where she was a cheerleader and made many lifelong memories. She married her beloved husband, Robert, on September 1, 1955, and they shared 45 wonderful years together before his passing in 2000. Over the years, they made homes in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, before settling back in Pittsburgh to raise their three children, Steven Schuessler, Darlene Sunderhaus, and Kimberly Johnson (Anthony); and their granddaughter, Corie. They loved traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially at their second home in Seven Springs.

Elinor had a generous heart and was always putting others before herself. She gave her time, her energy, and her love freely, whether it was caring for her family, remembering every birthday with a card, or showing up with a smile and a helping hand whenever someone needed her.

She adored her four granddaughters, Corinne Sunderhaus, Rachel Kepshire (Derek), Amy Wilson (Beau), and Marci Johnson. She was always up for a shopping trip with the girls, cheering from the sidelines at games, or attending school events. She loved being part of their lives and made each of them feel incredibly special.

She was overjoyed to become a great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, Gavin Kepshire, Ayden Wilson, Eli Monty, Dylan Kepshire, Elliana Wilson, Bliss Wilson, and Beckett Wilson. They brought her endless joy and laughter.

Elinor was a joy to be around; funny, smart, and endlessly kind. She never complained and was always thankful for the life she had, her home, and her family. Even as dementia slowly took hold, she never lost her sweet spirit, her sense of humor, or her giving nature.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alice Gundlach; and her sister, Shirley White.

Visitation will be held at BEINHAUER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, in McMurray, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens, 3739 Washington Road, in Canonsburg.

Family and friends are invited to join us afterward for a luncheon celebrating Elinor's life at Al's Café, 440 McMurray Road, in Bethel Park.
