ELIZABETH (MURPHY)

Passed away peacefully, on May 29, 2025, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Alfred von Arx; loving mother of the late Andrew (Cynthia) von Arx and Susan (Melissa Babiarz) von Arx; sister of the late Florence E. Murphy; daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Berry) Murphy; grandmother of Jennifer (late Bradley) Reitz and Drew (Kellyn) von Arx; and great-grandmother of Natalie, Max, Mallory and Henrik Reitz and Lorelei, Gus and Eli von Arx. Alumna of Our Lady of Mercy Academy (1948), the University of Pittsburgh (A.B. 1952, M.A. 1953), Kappa Alpha Theta and Alpha Kappa Delta (honorary). A long-time member of St. Bede parish, she was a life-long animal lover, especially dogs. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, (freyvogelfuneralhome.com), on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Funeral, Wednesday, June 4; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bede Church, of St. Mary Magdalene Parish, 509 Dallas Avenue, at 10:00 A.M.
