ELLAMAE "ELLIE" (SNAIR)

A 1928 Christmas baby, died July 17, after suffering a stroke. Her husband of 68 years, Charles "Chas" Gillespie predeceased her; as did her parents, Anna Mae and Charles Snair; and brother, Bud (Millie) Snair. She is survived by her children, Charlie (Cathy), Mark (Terri), Michele (the late Bill) Baldwin, Cindy (Tom) Smith, Mary (Harry) Wilson and Bridget; her grandchildren, Christina Gillespie, Angela Baldwin, Stephanie Gillespie, Jennifer (Ron) Warnock, Charlie (Tara Powers) Gillespie, Molly (Evan) Gombos, Tim Wilson, Jamie Gillespie and Patrick Wilson; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear great-nephew, Chuck Adreon and his family.

Ellie spent her life caring for others, taking great joy in raising her children, teaching CCD, being treasurer of the St. Pamphilus Christian Mothers and Women's Guild and watching her family grow for two more generations. Raised on the North Side of Pittsburgh, she was an Allegheny High School cheerleader, met her beloved Chas, and became an avid duckpin bowler.

After Chas and Ellie moved their growing family to Beechview, they continued to enjoy life with family vacations, fun in their backyard pool, trips to Las Vegas and rooting on the Buccos through thick and thin and for the Steelers as season ticket holders for decades. The last years of her life were spent in Baldwin Township with her youngest daughter while she continued her love of reading, holiday gatherings and playing with her great grandchildren.
