EUGENE W.
Eugene W. Sagel, affectionately known as Gene, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on November 18, 1942, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and spent his formative years in Logan's Ferry Heights. A proud graduate of New Kensington High School, Gene furthered his education by obtaining a degree in AC & Refrigeration from technical school.
Gene dedicated his professional life as a Boiler and AC Plant Supervisor at the VA Medical Center on Highland Drive in Pittsburgh, a role from which he retired prior to its closing. Throughout his career, he was respected and admired by his colleagues for his expertise and commitment to excellence, even teaching those who were eager to learn the craft.
In his spare time, Gene was an avid pool player and a skilled fixer of all things.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Karen Sagel; two sons, Brian Sagel and Kenneth (Karen M.) Sagel; grandchildren, Cole Sagel and Julianne Lovell; and great-grandchildren, James, Adrian, and Casey Lovell.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alice Sagel; as well as his sister, Alice Eyler.
Family and friends will be received Friday, March 28, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10 A.M. in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
