WEST
FRANCES (CAULFIELD)
Frances (Caulfield) West, 88, went to be with Our Lord on January 31, 2026. Born and raised in McKeesport, she was the daughter of Richard J. and Margaret C. (McCarren) Caulfield.
Frances was a loving wife to David L West for 43 years. She felt her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her four children: Erin (Mark) Garstka, David (Anna) West, Margaret (James) Hemmerle, and Carolyn (Gary) Zinzell. She was the faithful grandmother of Alexis (Phil) Buchsbaum, Kathleen West, Carmen West, Michael (Catherine) Hemmerle, Sarah (Mark) Weifenbaugh, Stephen (Roseo) Hemmerle and Elizabeth Zinzell; and proud great-grandmother of Zoey, Eris, Leo, Nathan and Sophia.
Frances was preceded in death by her siblings: Margaret (the late Dave) McCusker, Patricia (the late John) Balzer, Rosemary (the late Ted) Smith, Shirley (the late Art) Barnes, Sara Jane (the late James) Butler, Richard (Margie) Caulfield and John (Leila) Caulfield. She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Jan) Van Der Weerd, sister-in-law Joyce (Mike) Toia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Fran was a woman of great faith, kindness and strength. She delighted in her Irish heritage, demonstrated a quick wit, and was a loyal friend to all. She was a long-time member of North Huntingdon AARP Chapter #3221 and an active participant in events at the Monroeville Senior Center. Her hobbies included classical music, crocheting, puzzles and word searches. Though cagey with a buck, she was lucky in playing bingo and on occasional trips to the casino.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her many caregivers, including AGH HOSPICE STAFF AS WELL AS COMFORT KEEPERS COMPANIONS.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 4th, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish, Campus of St. Bernadette, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville, PA at 10 AM on Thursday, February 5th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Blood Cancer United, P.O. Box 22324, NY, NY 10087. Condolences may be made at www.corlfuneralchapel.com.
