FRED

Age 75, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. Fred was a devoted husband of 50 years to Alice, the love of his life, and a wonderful father to his two sons, Matthew and Patrick. He especially cherished the times that he coached their teams, watched their games, cheered them on, and enjoyed their successes. He was the proud and adoring Pap Pap to Rory and Lily. Being a grandfather was one of his greatest joys in life, and he wore that title with pride, love, and endless smiles. He is also survived by his brother, Jay; and his sister-in-law, Judy; his brothers-in-law, Tom Schultz (Karen) and Steve Schultz (Dolores); and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Fred worked in special education as a rehabilitation counselor for Pittsburgh Public Schools and the intermediate for 40 years. Fred was an avid hockey and football enthusiast. He loved to travel and visited many European countries from his bucket list with travel buddies and good friends, Regina and Ed. He especially enjoyed sharing good food, a glass of wine, and conversation with family and friends. To know him was to truly love him.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father. His love remains woven into our lives, and we trust that someday we will be with him again. Until then, we carry his light forward as he is deeply missed, forever loved, and truly irreplaceable.

In addition, we would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the ICU at Magee Hospital for their care, kindness, and moral support to our family in Fred's final days.

There will be no public viewing. A Mass will be held in honor of Fred's life at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred's memory may be given to the Parkinson Foundation or the charity of your choice.
