FREDERICK CARL
Of Valencia, PA, passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 88. He was at St. Barnabas, Gibsonia, surrounded by family.
Fred is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Terri Charles (Brenden), Tom, and Glenn (Dana); sister, Beverly Creel (Wallace); grandchildren, Cole, Ryan, Tyler, Alexa, Evan, Danielle, Noah, and Ashley; and great-grandchild, Owen.
Fred was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on November 7, 1937, to Frederick Herbert Grau and Agnes Augusta Cronen. He earned a business degree from Thiel College as the first in his family to earn a college degree. Fred is also a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army in the late 1950s. In 1991, Fred founded The Grau Trading Company, a highly successful scrap metal trading business that supported his family and the Pittsburgh steel industry.
Fred was an amazing and devoted father and grandfather, and he always cherished his time and memories with his family. He was also a long-time member and generous contributor to the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown.
Next to his family, Fred had a fierce passion for golf. He participated in several leagues with many beloved friends for nearly 60 years, and he was still a master of the game into his mid-eighties.
Fred will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
The family will welcome friends Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, PA 15007.
