Gary Herring, 84, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with his family by his side. Husband of 56 years to the late Nancy (Nalepa) Herring, father of Scott (Carrie) Herring, Marcy (David) Santel, and Jason (Samantha) Herring. Grandfather of Allison and Jacob Herring, Emily (Jorge) Garcia, and James Herring. Son of the late Robert and Hazel Herring.

Gary was a dedicated Pittsburgh steelworker for over 50 years. He was a proud Marine, a true history buff, a diehard Pirate fan, and he especially enjoyed a good IPA (he "preferred" the West Coast variety!) He could fix anything and always had the tool or the part needed. He loved spending time with his family, watching Jeopardy and the game show network, and playing poker, bingo, and raising a glass with his many friends at the Bethel Square Apartments. He always had a joke ready and a funny sign posted on his door to make everyone smile. He was cherished by everyone that met him, and he will be deeply missed. A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and caregivers who supported him and his family in his final days.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 2-8 p.m., FREYVOGEL-SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15241 (412-835-1860). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Ceremony with military funeral honors provided by VFW Post 764 will follow at Saint Adalbert Cemetery in Carrick where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife.
