GARY M. WATSON Obituary

WATSON

GARY M.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary M. Watson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully at his home on January 24, 2026, at the age of 73. A man known for his warmth and infectious friendliness, Gary had a unique gift for making everyone he met feel like family.

Born on March 27, 1952, in Natrona Heights, PA, to the late Harry and Helen Watson, Gary built a life defined by dedication and connection. He was a proud 1970 graduate of the Highlands School District before pursuing higher education with passion. He earned his bachelor's degree in management information systems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and later achieved a master's in business management from Carnegie Mellon University. Gary applied his strong work ethic and professionalism during his 38 years of service at Copperweld (later ArcelorMittal), where he served as IT Systems Manager and was a respected colleague and friend to many.

Gary lived a full and vibrant life outside of his career. He found great joy on the golf course, researching genealogy, keeping abreast of the latest scientific advancements, rooting for Pittsburgh sports teams and traveling to new places. Gary loved dogs, and he was an avid card player who cherished the camaraderie of the game. Above all, Gary was extremely popular and well-loved for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Gary leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by his devoted wife, Joanna Watson. He was a proud father to his two sons, David (Cyndi) Watson and Michael (Marita) Watson. He will be deeply missed by his siblings: Harry (Marcy) Watson, James (Maria) Watson, Linda (the late Joe) Gill, and Margaret Kosmal.

His memory lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Carter, and Brooks. He is now reunited with his parents, his late wife Karen Watson, and his granddaughter Victoria. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and fondly remembered by the Farano family

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Gary's life during visitation on Friday, January 30th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216 (412-531-4000). A service will be held at the funeral home the following morning, Saturday, January 31st, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Gary's honor to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
