GEORGE ROMAN

In Loving Memory

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Roman Lambl, a devoted father and loving brother, a brilliant engineer, inventor, and beloved Disc Jockey (DJ), who curated the soundtrack for countless friends. He passed away on September 12, 2025, in his home city of Pittsburgh, PA, at the age of 72.

Born June 16, 1953, to the late George F. and Wanda J. (Socha) Lambl, music was the central rhythm of his life. His career as "DJ George" was legendary in Pittsburgh, a 54-year legacy, documented in a framed history he hung with pride. As the founder and first President of the Disc Jockey Association of Western PA, he was a community leader whose popular "Oldies Oasis" show was a staple on WKFB-AM and WLSW-FM. A testament to his status in the industry, his prominence on the airwaves saw him sharing stories and airtime with legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Porky Chedwick.

An accomplished Electrical Engineer who earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979, his passion for music was supported by his brilliant and inventive mind. A holder of multiple patents, his two worlds perfectly synthesized with his invention, the Beatmeter (TM), which he patented in 1981. This revolutionary device, born from his unique intellect, became the cornerstone of his entrepreneurial ventures, including Disco Tech Inc., a company he founded to design and sell innovative DJ equipment. In a distinguished corporate career, he excelled in senior roles including Director of Engineering and General Manager for industry leaders such as RCA, Muzak, and Gould Semiconductor.

For 17 years, George shared his life and his passion with the love of his life, Pat Butler. She was his inseparable partner in life and music, the steady hand and loving heart by his side at every dance and numerous DJ gigs. She was with him and his family through his final days. His rock and comfort to the end.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Christopher M. Lambl. He leaves behind his loving son, David G. (Bridget) Lambl; and his devoted siblings, Dr. Barbara B. Lambl and Andrew F. (Jean) Lambl, who carry his memory forward.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate George's life at a viewing to be held at BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Knowing how much their presence would mean to him, the family extends an especially heartfelt invitation to the dance community he so adored. A private burial will follow.

He built systems, founded businesses, and spun records, but his greatest creation was the joy he brought to others. His rhythm, love, and spirit play on.
