JACOBY
GEORGE WILLIAM
With deep gratitude for a life fully and well lived, the family of George William Jacoby - beloved husband, father, grandfather, attorney and friend - announces his passing and departure for his next adventure.
George was born in Warren, Ohio, the third child and only son of Evelyn Loos Jacoby and Paul F. Jacoby. George graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School, where he developed an early interest in public service through student government. He threw the shotput and discus and was a member of the 1966 WPIAL championship football team. In his senior year, George was elected Senior Class President, was a captain of the football team and received All-State honors in both football and track.
After high school, George accepted a full scholarship to play football and study engineering at the University of Virginia, where he learned that an all-male southern university was not for him.
For his sophomore year, he enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh. He was an enthusiastic member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and earned his degree in Economics and English.
George chose not to play football for the Panthers but still found great success in the Pitt Athletic Department; he married the Athletic Director's daughter, Patricia Myslinski, his beloved wife of 52+ years.
George went on to earn a Master of Public Administration from The Ohio State University and soon began work for county and city governments in Pittsburgh. He received his JD from Duquesne University, attending the evening program. George rose through the ranks to serve as Executive Secretary under Pittsburgh Mayor Richard Caliguiri. Following Mayor Caliguiri's
death in office, he served as Executive Secretary to Mayor Sophie Masloff and was instrumental in the transition to her administration. George took great pride in serving the city he called home.
Following his years in government, George and Pat moved to a farm in Hopewell, Pennsylvania. Though still commuting to downtown Pittsburgh daily, George embraced rural life in his own way. He stacked hay, mended fences, worked on his tractor and spent many happy hours on his beloved zero-turn lawn mower. George delighted in sharing his farm stories about the horses, goats, alpacas and other assorted animals with his lunchtime companions. His dear friend Wendell Freeland once commented that he learned more about farm life than he ever needed or wanted to know.
George was an extremely devoted and loving father. He took pride in his family and shared in the activities and accomplishments of his children. He helped them through difficulties with patience and perspective rather than judgement. George coached, volunteered and was a constant and positive force in his children's lives.
George had a long-standing law practice, sharing space and counsel with his trusted colleague, Deborah Liotus, where he worked until his passing. He was known for his sharp wit, steady advice, generous spirit and a commitment to protect and advocate for those in need. His common sense approach to business and negotiation was well regarded in the legal community. Allegheny County Judges frequently appointed George as Special Master, Counsel, Guardian and Trustee in Orphans' Court.
George had a passion for vintage cars and served for many years as Chairman of the Board of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, helping to guide it into the nation's largest vintage street race and a premier motorsport festival.
George is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Jacoby; his children, Brandon Jacoby (Michelle Bush Jacoby) of Los Angeles, CA; Brooke Krynski (Ken) of Las Vegas, NV; and Kimberly Jacoby (Patrick Redman) of Hopewell, PA. George leaves behind six cherished grandchildren:
June Evelyn, Casimir and Violet Jacoby; Jacob "Jake" Krynski; Stella and Jacoby "Coby" Redman. He is also survived by his three wonderful sisters, Paula Parker, Patti Beaver and Peggy Myers.
Friends and colleagues are invited to join his family at George's Celebration of Life on March 27, 2026, any time between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Cuchina Vitale, 661 Anderson Drive, Greentree, PA 15220, as they gather in gratitude to honor his memory.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association, 1000 Gamma Drive, Suite 106, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
