JOHNSON

GINO

Passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 2, 2025. He was born on April 14, 1995, in Pittsburgh and lived a life full of passion, curiosity and fierce intelligence.

Gino was known for his brilliant mind, quick wit and deep love for reading - he could lose himself in books for hours, always eager to learn, to debate, to understand the world in new ways. His intellect was unmatched and he took pride in challenging those who he loved to keep up with him - especially his siblings, with whom he shared a lifelong game of competitive IQ tests, inside jokes and spirited debates.

He had an undeniable fire within him - a hunger to be the best at whatever he did, whether it was sports, academics, or mastering a new skill. Gino's love for animals and loyalty to those closest to him revealed a heart as big as his mind. He was bold, bright, and complex - someone who made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Gino was resilient, never lost his spark - the sharp humor, the stubborn strength, the quiet tenderness. He was a son, a brother, a friend and a soul who wanted so deeply to be free.

Gino is survived by his mother, Diana Johnson and husband, Thomas Sherts; and the late Daniel R. Johnson; his siblings, Mia Johnson and Trevor Sherts; grandparents, Bob and Maria Rubano and the late Richard and Josephine Johnson; and godparents, Robert Rubano and Anna Vignetti; also many friends and extended family who loved him dearly. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and the unforgettable brilliance that made him who he was.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, (724-941-3211). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Valentine Catholic Church in Bethel Park.

Though he is no longer with us in body, Gino's spirit lives on - in every book cracked open, every deep conversation, and every quiet moment when we feel him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gino's memory to an organization supporting mental health and recovery.
