Hazel M. (Sodini) Nixon, a beloved Pittsburgh resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 15, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leona (Ferrari) and Michael Sodini, her cherished husband, Charles J. Nixon, Jr., and by her brothers, George Sodini and Alfred Sodini. Hazel is survived by her children, Dianne Nixon, Maureen (Dallas) Nelson, Charles J. Nixon III, and Michael (Laura) Nixon. In her lifetime, she was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A lifelong Pittsburgh resident, Hazel graduated from Pittsburgh Public Schools Bellefield Girls Vocational High School in 1951. During her early years, she worked as a school crossing guard, where she met her future husband, Charlie, while he was working as a police officer. They married in October 1957 and remained together until Charlie passed away in February 1995 after 37 years of marriage. Visitation will be held at BEINHAUER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME at 2630 W. Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216 on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM. A blessing service will be held at 12 PM, with interment at the Allegheny Cemetery to follow.
