With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Helen Carter Flaherty, who departed this world on June 2, 2026, at the age of 104.

Helen was the very definition of grace, elegance, and kindness. She carried herself with dignity, treated others with respect, and brought warmth and sophistication to every room she entered. Her gentle spirit, impeccable style, and unwavering strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A devoted wife, cousin, aunt, and friend, Helen cherished her family, love of baking, and animals. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, treasured meaningful conversations, and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the countless memories that will be forever cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by cousins, Carol Egenlauf, Dian Shandick, and Leslie Fersch; and many loving nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Clyde Carter; and her husband, William J. Flaherty. Though she will be deeply missed, her elegance, wisdom, and loving heart will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, from 10:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m., following a celebration of life service at 12:30 p.m., at SPERLING FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 700 Blazier Drive, Wexford, PA 15090. A procession to Allegheny County Memorial Park immediately following the celebration of life ceremony. The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
