Helen M. (Madyda) Bocek, 95, formerly of Gibsonia and McKeesport, PA, recently passed away.
Helen was born to the late Alex and Helen Madyda, and was the widow of the late Stephen Bocek. They were married for 50 years and lived in Elizabeth Township before she moved to Gibsonia.
In McKeesport, she was a member of St. Mary Czestochowa. She was a beautician and owner of Helen's Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Bowling League and Mt. Vernon Bridge Club. She loved sports, being the Steelers and Pirates biggest fan.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Pamela Bocek Murphy, and husband, George, of Neenah, WI; grandchildren, James (Lisa), Amanda (Mel), George, and Spencer (Leah); four great-grandchildren, James (Erin), Justin, Margaret Murphy, and Jennifer Termine; and daughter, Chris Just (Matt) of Wexford, PA; and granddaughter Meghan Hodge. She is also survived by brother, Alex Madyda (Clara); and sister, Violet Bowerman (Jay); many nieces, nephews (and great ones too), and cousins. She was preceded in death by sister, Pearl Bocek; and brother, Bernard Madyda.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Heart Association, the Dementia Society of America, or Susan G. Komen Foundation. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township, PA. The family would like to thank the West Deer EMS team, Dr. Joseph Kimmel, Dr. Jesse Gabriel, and Justin Capek, DNP, CNRP from Kimmel & Assoc., The Allegheny Health Network, especially those from the Allegheny General and Wexford Hospitals, all the staff at Harmony at Harts Run, and Powerback Rehabilitation for the special loving and overwhelming care provided to Helen.
