HOWARD R.

Age 89, of Franklin Park, formerly of Ross Township, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband for 61 years of Carol (Kennedy) VonSchaven. Howard was a loving father to Jennifer McCurry (John) and Jim (Liberty); and proud grandfather of David McCurry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Catherine VonSchaven; and sister, Marlene Duffy. He is survived by his sister, MaryKay Amidon. Howard is also survived by loving relatives, friends and former colleagues.

Howard graduated from Duquesne University in 1961 with a degree in accounting. He began his professional career with Carbis-Walker and Associates. In 1965, Howard joined Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Montgomery in the Pittsburgh office, which, through mergers became Coopers & Lybrand (C&L) then finally, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). He was admitted to the partnership in 1979.

At C&L, Howard was the leader of the Health Care practice, where he became known by many as Mr. Health Care of Western PA. After 31 years, he retired in 1996.

Howard loved playing golf, enjoying the company of others, spending his winters in Florida and watching his grandson, David, play baseball.

Friends will be received on Sunday, June 22, 2-5 P.M., at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15229. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saints John and Paul Church, 2586 Wexford Bayne Rd., Sewickley, PA 15143, on Monday, 10:30 A.M. Everyone please meet at church.
