HOWARD "SONNY"

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, Howard "Sonny" Boyd, a lifelong resident of Ross Township, passed away peacefully, at the age of 83. Son of the late Howard and Mitzi Boyd; survived by his wife "the love of his life," Judy (Bell) Boyd; stepchildren, Andrea (Mark) Morgan and Scott (Erin) Mervick; pap-pap of Evelyn Archer; son-in-law of Jean Bell. Howard served in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. He was Ross Township Police Officer for 41 years and then served as Ross Township Code Enforcement Officer for ten years. Howard never met a stranger. Throughout his career, he handled every situation with kindness and a genuine desire to help. He was always a peacemaker, and he left a positive, lasting impact on the lives of countless people. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 p.m., at the LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 460 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. Burial with military honors will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., attn: Donor Support, 900 Red Mills Road, Wallkill, NY 12589-5200 (www.donate.jw.org), or to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 (www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org).
