WOLFSON

INA J.

Of East Windsor, NJ, age 83, died Monday, April 20, 2026, in Bridgeville, PA, after a long illness. Ina was born on January 4, 1943, in the Bronx, NY, to accountant Alfred Gold and secretary Eleanor (Schwartz) Gold. She attended CUNY-Queens College, where she studied French literature and served as secretary of the school's Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) chapter. She taught in Farmville, VA, as part of the Student Help Project and worked at the Librairie de France at Rockefeller Center before going on to earn her Master's degree in French at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She taught French at the college and high school levels, and met her husband, David, a film producer, in 1970, while living in Greenwich Village. The couple moved to California, and Ina continued her teaching career in Los Angeles, where she eventually worked as a bilingual educator, primarily with Spanish speaking students, and as a member of UTLA.

In 1997, Ina moved to New Jersey to help care for her parents. She continued as an English as a Second Language teacher there, most recently for the East Windsor Regional School District. Ever devoted to her students, she continued to teach well into her 70s, before retiring in 2018.

She loved to dance and play the guitar and piano. She enjoyed the company of good friends, her travels to Peru, and visiting with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and an adventurous spirit. She was widely known for her dedication to her family, friends, and students, and for her generosity and kindness to all people.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband and dogs, Tasha and Buddy. She is survived by her son, attorney Evan W. Wolfson (Blair Preiser) of South Fayette, PA; grandchildren, Joseph, Caden and Eliana; and sister, Laura S. Chernaik (Steve) of Glencoe, IL.

The family offers its sincerest thanks and appreciation to the hard-working, caring staff at Bridges Hospice and Concordia of Bridgeville.

Services at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 12:30 pm. Burial to follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ 07652.
